Big Change Coming for Planning Rail and Bus Journeys
Transport for Ireland has announced that change is coming for planning rail and bus journeys and their two public transport apps will no longer be supported, but current users are advised to download a brand new app.
TFI will now have a new app, TFI Live app, which will aim to make travelling on public transport easier, the service announced on Twitter. Their two apps will cease to function from February 22 and change coming for planning rail and bus journeys. Real Time Ireland combined all real time information services from Bus Eireann, Dublin Bus, Go-Ahead Ireland, Iarnrod Eireann and Luas, while Journey Planner provided service information, directions, and time estimates for taking a journey on all licenced public transport providers across the country.
Their new app has gone live and it essentially combines the functions of the previous apps, allowing access to real time departure and journey planning information across the TFI network. According to the official website, the new TFI Live app is on a new platform that will be continually improved in the coming months. The app will be available to download on iPhone in the Apple App store and Android in the Google Play store.
Key features of the new TFI Live app include:
- Ability to view real time departure information for Bus Eireann, Dublin Bus, Go-Ahead Ireland, Luas and Iarnrod Eireann.
- Option to select your origin and destination to find the best route for your journey.
- Search tool, for route specific timetables and maps.
- Save your favourite journeys, departures and timetables for quick access on the go.
TFI have also shared an instructional video for using their new app.
