CILT Course: Higher Certificate in Business in Logistics and Supply Chain Management

Programme overview

The two-year Higher Certificate in Business in Logistics and Supply Chain Management is open to professionals who wish to further their knowledge in the areas of business, logistics and supply chain management.

The programme is designed for participants who currently work in the industry but do not have the necessary academic achievements to progress their career. Students come from a variety of backgrounds across the logistics, supply chain and transport areas.

The Higher Certificate in Business in Logistics and Supply Chain Management is open to all individuals regardless of experience, we welcome those new to the industry looking to pursue a new career.

Lecturers are Industry Professionals who give real life case studies and examples during class as well as the academic knowledge to underpin learning experience.

The programme will run in three centres this September:
Griffith College Cork, Wellington Road, Montenotte, Cork City.

Customer Services for Supply Chain

On successful completion of Year 1 students may exit the programme with a Certificate in Logistics and Supply Chain Management (Minor Award – 60 Credits)

Year 2 

Advance Finance
Management of Supply Chain Operations
Applied Human Resource Management
Marketing for Supply Chain
Customs Clearance and Dangerous Good Awareness
Work Based Project

On successful completion of Year 2 students are awarded a Higher Certificate in Business in Logistics and Supply Chain Management (Major Award – 120 Credits).

PLO1 Demonstrate detailed knowledge and understanding of the underlying concepts and processes across supply chain management, logistics, warehouse & transport management, customer service, operations, human resources, marketing, management, communication, financial accounting and business applications for the industry sector.

PLO3 Creatively apply knowledge of the underlying theories across a wide range of disciplines and demonstrate knowledge of how to apply the theories as learnt to the industry sector.

PLO4 Competently conduct sophisticated research, drawing on contemporary developments, and communicate the related specifications and findings clearly to a range of academic and professional audiences.

Know-How & Skill – Selectivity

PLO5 Demonstrate ability to write, record, research and analyse material that will facilitate business planning in this sector.

PLO6 To apply knowledge and skills learnt to practice through real life case studies
Competence Role

PLO7 Work competently in a self-directed manner, individually, in peer-relationships, and as a team leader in a variety of interdisciplinary and unfamiliar environments Competently initiate, negotiate and manage logistic projects involving complex workflows and multiple personnel to exacting deadlines.

Course Requirements

Applicants over the age of 23 are assessed as mature students and may apply on the basis of age and experience.

If an Applicant is under 23 years of age, they must hold a minimum of a Leaving Certificate or QQI Level 5 Major Award and meet the minimum Institute criteria for such programmes.
