HID Open State of the Art Logistics Centre in Shannon

HID, a global leader in reliable identity solutions, is thrilled to announce the inauguration of the new Logistics Centre in Shannon, Ireland. This modern facility represents HID’s second-largest logistics centre and provides crucial support to 55 countries in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).

The event was celebrated with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting and the visit of prominent local dignitaries, business leaders, and HID’s operations management team. With an area of 4,157 square meters, this new Logistics Center is twice the size of HID’s previous facility and currently employs 60 people, with an expansion plan in the coming years.

Josh Freeman, Senior Vice President and Head of HID Operations, said, “the establishment of this new Logistics Center aligns with our strategy to support HID’s global expansion. It reflects our unwavering commitment to promoting innovation and improving product availability throughout the region.”

Dara Calleary, Minister of State for Trade Promotion, Digital Regulation, and Business Organization, congratulated HID on choosing Shannon as the location for this impressive expansion. He praised HID’s continued growth and its contribution to the thriving technology sector in the region, saying, “Shannon is thriving in the technology sector, and the entry of a global leader like HID is a very welcome addition.”

Michael Lohan, CEO of IDA Ireland, also extended his congratulations to HID, emphasizing the company’s role in the thriving technology cluster in the Midwest. HID’s presence in Ireland has steadily developed since 2006, encompassing production, research and development, supply chain services, information technology, finance, human resources, and other essential functions to support the growing customer base in the EMEA region.

Initially, HID established itself in Tully, County Galway, in 2006. The company is renowned in Ireland for its pioneering work in the country’s electronic identity card program, which introduced electronic identity cards as a new means for travelers crossing European borders. In 2022, HID further consolidated its presence in Ireland with the opening of an award-winning Center of Excellence in Galway, employing approximately 500 people.

In summary, HID Logistics Centre in Shannon symbolizes the company’s commitment to supporting its global growth, promoting innovation, and enhancing product accessibility in the EMEA region. This expansion reflects the pivotal role of Ireland in HID’s journey, from Tully to Galway, and now to Shannon, where the company continues to contribute significantly to the technology sector and the community at large.
