Mercedes and Infiniti look at joint platform for larger vehicles and SUVs

It has emerged that Mercedes-Benz and Infiniti are in advanced talks about starting a new venture between the two companies to jointly develop a shared vehicle platform to be used in the manufacturing of large sedans and SUVs.
The two major brands already have an agreement to work as a team on a smaller platform for compact cars. The new arrangement would spin off their own individual models from the potential new platform.
Johan de Nysschen, Infiniti chief executive has said “We are looking at a versatile platform for larger vehicles, both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive that could form the basis for sedans and SUVs.”
