Scania sets new company patent record for last year

Scania have announced that 2013 saw its patent department receive over 700 invention disclosures. The significantly high volume was a huge increase of 40% compared to 2012.
What will please the company is the fact that this marks a continuing trend that the vast majority of the patent invention disclosures have been generated in the development of electronics and control systems.
Scania’s Research and Development, the departments for powertrain control systems development and the department for hybrid technology development submitted most of the invention ideas.
On top of this, a new record of 285 first filed patent applications was set by the company last year. This news has certainly pleased Stina Sjögren Paulsson who is the Head of Scania’s Patent Department who said “We are excited to see new record levels year after year .With all the inventions in our pipeline, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if we reach an even higher figure when we summarise 2014.”
