TNT announces upcoming job cutbacks

There could potentially be some worrying times ahead for Irish workers at TNT Express depots throughout the country. This is due to a recent announcement by the company that they are to introduce a restructuring plan that will lead to the company cutting back on its workforce.
They have said that their main areas of restructure will be in the administrative and financial sectors and they expect that up to 237 jobs will be lost as a result of the scaling back process. The managing director of TNT Express in the UK & Ireland Alistair Cochrane released a statement expressing his disappointment about the upcoming cut backs.
Mr. Cochrane stated “It is with deep regret we have to take these difficult steps. The reality is that we have to provide a competitive service to our customers in the face of challenging trading conditions. These steps are required to strengthen our company for the long term.”
